How To Prepare Your First Bag

Learn what you need for your  first pickup — including why you don't need our bag yet.

Preparing your laundry for Magic Basket is simple, but following these steps ensures you are provided with the most consistent, "drawer-ready" results.

1. Gather Your Laundry

You do not need our bag for your first pickup. Use any bag you own - as long as it closed or covered so nothing spills in transit, we'll take it.

Your peronsonalized Magic Basket bag comes back with your first delivery, packed with clean clothes. From then on, it's your bag for every pickup.

2. Check The Pockets

We strongly recommend that you check all pockets for loose items such as cash, jewelery, or electronics. While our team performs a courtesy check during the intake as a safety measure, Magic Basket is not responsible for valuables left in garments. Any items that may be found by our team, we will do our best to return them to you in clear Integrity Bag.

3. Verify The Contents

To protect your wardrobe and our equipment, please ensure you are not including any prohibited items. We do not accept:

  • Shoes, rugs, dog beds, purses & backpacks, stuffed animals, goose down, tutus, leather, suede, fur or faux fur, rubber, weighted blankets, wedding dresses, or any item with feathers (real or faux) attached.
  • Dry-clean only fabrics.
  • Items contained with biohazards or human/animal waste.
  • High-value tiems that exceed our standard liability coverage.

In addition, our clothing care team reserves the right not to process anything they judge could be damaged in processing or could damage our equipment. If an item is returned to you unwashed, it is weighed out of your order and you are not billed for its weight.

For a full list of items that we do not accept, check our article Items We Do Not Clean.

4. Fill It Up

No sorting required!

One of the best parts of the Magic Basket experience is that you do not need to sort your laundry.

  • Whites vs Colors - Our processing facility will handle it all.
  • Weight - Your laundry is weighed at intake and you're charged by the pound, so send as much or as little as you like. There is a $40 minimum per order, which is 16 lbs on Magic First or 20 lbs on Magic Routine.
  • Everything - Toss in your everyday clothes and towels.

5. Seal The Deal

If you have more laundry than fits in one bag, just send another. There is no extra bag fee - everything in a single pickup is weighed together and billed at your rate.

Make sure each bag closes completely so your items stay secure in transit.

6. Set It Out

Place your closed Magic Basket Bag at your designated pickup spot by 7:00 AM on the morning of your service. Our drivers will handle the rest, capturing a photo for your record and getting your items on their way to being cleaned.
